October kicked off the busy season for me with a session I had been looking forward to for a few months. I first “met” Ellen Ward through Facebook when she reached out to me for details* on my sessions for Graduating Seniors.
One of her first messages mentioned that she wanted to do some pictures in her pointe shoes and dance clothes. There might have been an audible excited gasp that I let out as I started thinking up fun ways to capture a ballet dancer for her senior pictures! Clearly, this was going to be a fun client. Since Ellen and I had not met before I sent her a mini questionnaire to get a better feel for who she is and her sense of style. A few of her answers can be found below:
Q: What three words would you want to describe your photos?
A: Artsy, Graceful, Different
Q: What celebrity’s style do you follow?
A: Zooey Deschanel
Q: How would you describe your personality?
A: Sensitive, Friendly, Determined
Ellen was true to her answers in person. I enjoyed hearing more about her dance background and what she was thinking about doing after high school. I also had the privilege to meet her mom, Courtney, who joined us for the session.
Ellen’s senior pictures took place near the riverfront in Owensboro. There are so many beautiful old buildings that combine the traditional with a mix of modern updates. We spent part of her session capturing her everyday classy elegance. Then for the second half of our time together we took to the streets for her dance inspired shots. I loved both parts of her session!
